It’s sunshine almost all year round here in Miami, but fall temperatures definitely take a dip, causing Miamians to break out their boots and scarf, even if it’s only 68 degrees. Whether you enjoy the crisp, or want to stay indoors, we’ve put together some events worth checking out in Miami Beach this autumn.
Cinema lovers will have no shortage of movies to watch this fall. Miami Beach is full of film festivals like the Brazilian Film Festival, Italian Film Festival, and the Women’s International Film & Arts Festival—each of which takes place this fall.
From September to October 15th, celebrate Orgullo, a month-long celebration of Hispanic LGBT pride, music, food, and culture. Events include drag shows, poetry readings, culinary tours, and free testing will comprise the event. Also, in November there will be another week long pride event. White Party Week combines fundraising and parties to benefit the fight against HIV/AIDS.
Full Moon Kayak and Bonfire Tour
To get out and enjoy the falling temperatures, go on one of Blue Moon Outdoor Center’s Full Moon Kayak and Bonfire Tour. With glow sticks in hand, kayak through mangroves and the calm waters of Biscayne Bay. Back on shore, enjoy a warm bonfire and s’mores provided by the outdoor center! There’s no better way to spend a cool night than on the beach by a fire. Tours take place throughout September and October.
Concerts and Music
During the fall, attend one of Miami Beach’s many music events. Slayer, Chance the Rapper, and Animal Collective will all be playing at the Fillmore in South Beach. If you’re looking for free events there’s the 3rd North Beach Salsa and Latin Music Festival and Wallcast concerts for symphony lovers.
Miami is home to North America’s most important international modern and contemporary art fair known as Art Basel. Every December, artists and art lovers from all over the world gather to appreciate paintings, sculptures, installations, photographs, films from masters of modern art as well as upcoming artists. This year’s festival takes place December 1st-4th.
