Last year over 130,00 people attended one of Miami Beach’s biggest events. This cultural celebration consists of concerts on the beach, exquisite parties, and one huge parade.
Here’s what we are most excited for at this year’s Miami Beach Gay Pride Festival.
At Lummus Park (11th-14th Street), Sat. & Sun (April 9-10), free admission:
People from all walks of life will attend this festival under the palms trees of this beachside venue right in front of the Winterhaven Hotel. There will be plenty of cash bars, a family fun zone for kids, food ranging from Puerto Rican (Sabor Boricua) to vegetarian (Lunchology), as well as exhibitors like Car Resource, Aids Health Foundation, and more.
Three different stages will host favorite DJs like Joe Gauthreaux. Check out the full Pride Guide for the list of artists and be sure to stay for fireworks on Sunday night at 9pm to finish off the festivities!
At Ocean Drive (5th-15th Street), noon on Sunday (April 10th), free admission:
The city’s most popular oceanside street will shut down to traffic as tens of thousands of people line the sidewalks for the weekend’s main event. There’s no telling exactly what madness will be on display, but you can be sure to see a lot of decadent queens, nipple pasties, men in speedos, and creative rainbow costumes.
Clubs, organizations, and businesses from around South Florida will compete to see who can put on the most entertaining and creative float or show during the parade.
The week of events kicks off on Monday, April 4th, with a beauty pageant and silent auction where Miss Miami Beach Gay Pride 2016 will be crowned. Parties and mixers are happening throughout the week including the VIP Pride Kickoff Reception, which is a red carpet event with an open bar and hor d’oeuvres to start the weekend.
You can find a full breakdown of all of the events and sponsored parties in the guide.
