Whether you decide to wake up early one morning with the family or your night of partying extends late into the AM, it’s definitely worth catching at least one sunrise while in South Beach. With the bright sun creeping over the reflective ocean horizon in front of you and the funky Miami Beach cityscape behind, it’s an electric early morning atmosphere and one of the most peaceful times to see the beach. While any ocean view is sure to astound, here are a few extra special spots to take in a South Beach sunrise.

The Rocks at South Pointe Beach

Sitting at the unobstructed southern tip of Miami Beach, South Pointe is a beautiful destination at all times of the day. A park and beach, there are plenty of places to kick back, watch the fish, hop on a swing set, or lay out in the sun. One of the defining features of South Pointe Beach is a long pier of rocks jutting out from the sand shore about one hundred yards into the ocean. If you climb out on the rocks early in the morning, it will feel like you’re sitting on the water while you can take in the vibrant sunrise with remarkable clarity. Don’t miss the adjacent wooden-and-steel pier, where you’re as likely to spot pelicans as you are people.

Out on the Ocean

During the daytime, there are plenty of ways to get out on the water during your stay in Miami Beach. Fishing charters, jet ski or kayak rentals, to sunset champagne cruises—this city has it all. It’s a little bit more difficult to get out early enough to catch the sunrise, but where there’s a will there’s a way. The best option is to rent or charter a boat for overnight use. Spend the night in a cozy luxury boat with a loved one and then wake up early and take in that famous sunrise from the water.

The Winter Haven Hotel

The best and probably easiest place to watch the sunrise in Miami Beach is right here at the Winter Haven Hotel. Our guests have exclusive and unlimited access to our fabulous rooftop sundeck. Lean on the balcony with an early morning mimosa or bottle of champagne and watch the magical South Beach sunrise with bare feet just an elevator ride away from your room. We are also right across the street from an always open sunrise attraction, the actual shores of South Beach.
