One of Miami Beach’s many outlandish charity parties, Aqua Girl, is returning soon for five straight days this May. Join in the celebration of all things female at this exceptional social gathering, held from May 13th to the 17th.
The first day of Aqua Girl will kick-off with Chemistry: A Speed Dating Experiment. This exciting networking experience for women seeking women at Radio South Beach is unlike any other in the city. The next night, the romance continues with Dream Nightclub’s famous Traffic Jam Party, where everyone gets a glow necklace upon arrival: where red if you’re taken, yellow for “approach with caution” and green for absolutely available. Pool parties, cocktail functions, and other fun, feminine events will take place throughout the week.
Aqua Girl’s main selling mission, of course, is charity. The event was founded in 1999 by LGBT-focused event planners Alison Burgos and Shescape. Its first year, the dance party raised more than $15,000 for breast cancer. Since then, the celebration has grown tremendously, and still gives 100 percent of its proceeds to charity. These funds are appropriated by the Aqua Foundation For Women, which is a nonprofit serving the social and political rights of South Florida’s lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community.
For those who want to get in on the great cause, be sure to head down south this May. For more information, check out the Aqua Girl site here.
