Winter Haven Hotel is very excited for Art Deco Weekend on our very own Ocean Drive this January 16-18. A weekend long celebration of Miami Beach’s architecture, history and culture, this event brings an exciting variety of activities and happenings to the heart of the city. Named after Miami Beach’s prized Art Deco District, the core of which lives on Ocean Drive, the weekend looks back at how such a prestigious urban facade and culturally rich community came to be.
Taking several different approaches to this celebration, Art Deco Weekend begins in the street. According to the event website, the Miami Design Preservation League will be closing down Ocean Drive and bringing in vendors, street entertainment and more. Vendors will sell a variety of merchandise including vintage art work, jewelry, sculptures and a whole lot more. Classic cars will be on display right beneath the beautiful Art Deco architecture that lines Ocean Drive and inspires the entire weekend.
Coming out full force the event will expand on their street fair style celebration with a lecture series and a series of events at the Art Deco Weekend Promenade, the event’s artistic and cultural wing. The Promenade, which will be set up right on the beach, will feature a live jazz performance, fashion show, furniture and design expo, and a film series. As if this all isn’t enough, Art Deco Weekend will also have a stage setup called the Playground, where a two-day lineup of musical acts are slated to perform.
This is arguably the most festive, expressive and culturally defining event in Miami Beach every year. It’s a true hotspot where all of the elements that draw people to this city are put on display, discussed and enjoyed for two straight days.
